Throwback Thursday

Welcome back to another Throwback Thursday
This weeks Throwback Thursday song is one that everyone should know (New Niggas included). Speaking of New Niggas, the album this song is on was probably the first album you've ever purchased, so sit back and pay attention because you 90's babies can relate. This artist had the streets on lock and pretty much damaged ones career, by turning Hip-Hop against him. The artist I'm speaking of his Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.
"Get Rich Or Die Tryin'" is to this day one of the best albums since 2003, 50 talked about the harsh reality that went on in the streets. Club/Radio friendly records mixed with aggressive street songs as well and the fact you actually believed what he was talking about at the time made a classic album. Coming from Jamaica, Queens and going up on the streets and being street savvy, 50 took his street hustle and carried it over to the world of hip-hop.

When 50 first introduced his self to the rap he was involved in controversy from the song "How To Rob" and the song which is to be believed the reason behind him getting shot 9 times "Ghetto Qu'Ran." Both these songs had the industry going "Who this fuck is 50 Cents?" The song "How To Rob" talks about sticking up every major artist that was in the industry at the time, for example when 50 talked about robbing Jay-Z

What Jigga just sold like 4 mil? He got somethin to live for
Don't want no nigga puttin four thru that Bentley Coupe door"

And we all know what Jigga Man had to say about those lyrics, on the song "It's Hot" Jay Said

"Go against Jigga yo' ass is dense
I'm about a dollar, what the fuck is 50 Cents?"

The song "How To Rob" was a song that was dope but it didn't lead into any violence just a creative song for a young artist to get his buzz up. Its's the "Ghetto Qu'Ran" where things get real and almost led to the death of young Curtis Jackson. The song "Ghetto Qu'Ran" talks about drug kingpin Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff and the actions that happened in the streets between he and his crew. After the song was released the man that was heavily involved with the success of 50 Cent, Jam Master Jay was found dead in a studio in Queens on October 30, 2002. (RIP Jam Master Jay)

That was a quick history of the career of 50 Cents and the reason behind the song which features on today's Throwback Thursday. So sit back and enjoy!
