#PghSupportPgh

Welcome back to First Class Blogs
It's been a while since we had a #PghSupportPgh blog, but over this past weekend I sat down with B. White and we discussed a few topics. Topics such as who influences him, what he currently thinks of the local hip hop scene in Pgh, and a few other things.

Sit back and enjoy!

1. For those who don't know you, who is B. White? (basically a quick background of who you are)
B.White is a hip hop artist based out of Pittsburgh who is deep rooted in his city with a hard hitting but concious form of style and delivery. Far from 'swag', the music is usually derived from negative life lessons.

2. What artist(s) does B. White look to for inspiration? (mainstream and locally if there are any)
I listen to alot of soul, jazz & blues. Etta James, Stevie Wonder, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blind Boys of Alabama, Muddy Waters, Roy Buchanon, Gladys Knight. But as far as rap, i listen to Jay-Z, Scarface, Trife da God, Pusha T, Primavera Vills and more.

3. For those who do know you, they know you as a member of The 58's. How is making music with the group different from making music as an solo artist?
I dont treat it any different. Its still the same process. Beat, lyrics & execution. As far as making songs, its a little harder to tell a story with only one verse on the song being yours. But when your fellow members are as good as they are, it always seems to work. For us anyways.

4. Coming from Mckeesport and being apart of the underground Pittsburgh scene, how do you feel about the local music in the city?
I think the local scene is strong. With Wiz & Mac going global, it opened the doors to new things. People notice now. And with local artists like Hubbs & Boaz & Varsity Squad and so many more, the possibilities are limitless. Im just glad to be a part of it.
5. I've heard the "Money Remix" featuring Boaz and Troy Ave how did those features come about and how was it working with those artist? Were you all in the studio together or was the verses sent via email?
Well Boaz i've worked with many times, so making that happen was just love on his end. He looks out. But Troy Ave was linked up thru my man Blig and his verse was sent via email. That song just needed those 2 on it. So we were willing to make it happen however we needed.

6. Do you think sending verses via email ruins the vibe and/or chemistry of a song or do you feel like it doesn't really matter?
I would preferrably work through email for the simple fact that i like to write in absolute silence in the confides of my own home. As long as theres a understanding of the concept, then it shouldnt make a difference. Thats just my opinion though, others may feel different. To each his own i suppose.

7. Are there any upcoming projects we should be looking forward to?
I just released "The Anomaly" which is my newest album. We have a show coming up May 25th at Altar Bar in Pittsburgh. All ages. New videos coming every other Monday. Other than that, its just a day to day social network grind.

8. How can the fans stay in touch with you and how can other artist get you on their song(s) for a feature?
Fans can follow my day to day life on twitter or instagram @bwhite58s or on facebook "b.white" or check out our youtube page "the 58s". For bookings contact bwhite15132@gmail.com.
