Back to today's blog....

About two weeks ago I got an email from a rapper originally from LA asking me if I would listen to his mixtape and write a review. Being the hip hop head that I am of course I say yea I have no problem sharing my opinion on music, that's what I do. The rapper's name is Nemesis and the mixtape is titled "The Kountdown" after a few listen I have to admit there are a lot of things I liked and there was also things I disliked.

Let's discuss the tape.....
Let's start with the intro, I personally loved it. The pain and honesty in the few bars that it was told me I was getting prepared to listen to a personal rapper, and yall I know I love very personal music. (I'm a Budden fan)

Following the intro the song titled "Insane Flow" was an ok track, not my favorite on the tape but ok. I think the production makes me not like the song more. I feel the track could have been mixed slightly better and that takes a lot away from the song.  Two tracks following "Insane Flow" was a song titled "I Wanna be With You" once again an ok song. I believe the hook carried this song, and made me like it, the verses were cool I think they could have been a little better which would have made a very dope song.

Track number 8 of the "The Kountdown" is a song titled "Dank in my Blunt" which featured the Kirko Bangz instrumental "Drank in my Cup." I'm not a huge fan of using industry beats on mixtapes unless you in a sense switch the demeanor and create your own song. That was not in this case but once again I loved the hook and the verses were cool but the hook really made me like this song. The songs "Fiending for your Body" and "Throwed" are cool ass songs I like the flow and the hook on both tracks. The song "It's a New Day" brought back the pain and personal feel like how the intro had, my favorite song on the whole tape personally.
Master your craft is the advice I have for Nemesis, and I don't mean that in a disrespectful way. In no way am the best interviewer nor the best everything, I'm in the same boat with you. Practice makes perfect and I practice to become the best everyday. After your intro I was expecting more of a personal vibe but I didn't get that until the second half of the tape. Your hook writing abilities are dope I feel you have somewhat mastered that, you're good in that area. I would focus more of flow and delivery, that's what makes good songs great. For example, someone like BIG had crazy flow which made you enjoy the music and sing along, HOV has a very strong delivery where he puts you in his shoes and makes you relate. Master those two area of your craft and we'll be seeing you on the Billboard charts soon.

Shoutout to Nemesis for asking to be apart of First Class Blogs and I personally look forward to the next tape to see the growth as an artist. Overall good tape and it makes me wanna hear a part two real soon maybe summer time.

See you at the top fam!

    1. I think the production is ok, I just expected more of a personal feel from after the intro like pain and struggle was the theme to the tape which it wasn't. I think once he masters which lane he wants to be apart of he'll be a problem, I def looking forward to the next tape
