Let me start this blog by saying at one point in my life I was a huge Jadakiss fan. So do not confuse this blog with hate, I'm just speaking the truth. Jason Phillips, Al Qaeda Jada, or whatever the fuck you call yourself now, pull up a chair we need to talk.
Since you first stepped foot in the rap game you've been a force to be wrecking with. Classic freestyles, quotable bars, and being an all around dope rapper that's who you are. You are what I like to call "A rappers, rapper". There is one area you lack and Mr. Raspy and that's growth.
From your Bad Boy days to now not much has changed. Of course lingo and wordplay has changed but the overall content is still the same. According to you, you were in the streets then and you're in the streets now. You had packs then and you have packs now. Not only growth but your song making abilities have stopped you from reaching a "Jay Z" and/or "Kanye" type of audience.
Is it fair to say "Why" is your biggest hit record to this day? Yes you have good feature moments and good mixtapes as well but why is it difficult for a vet like yourself to make a great song?

You can rap, seem charismatic (everyone fucks with you) but can not release an undeniable hit. Not producing hit records result in you not having classic albums. Your albums are ok don't get me wrong but compare them to other classic albums and you get blown out the water. Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, The Chronic, GRODT, It's Dark and Hell is Hot, Food and Liquor, none of your album can compete with those.
Lets talk growth as an artist. Take someone like Jay, his music now fits his age, he talks about owning artwork, living his life with his family, and enjoying his money. He grew with his audience, he's not trying to target 17 year old boys because he doesn't live that life. He targets young adults and people his age who understand who Andy Warhol is. It seems like you're still targeting 17-23 year olds who think Jordan's and Michael Kor watches is living life. You can still talk your clever street shit but be more creative and switch it up time to time.
In conclusion I think you can rap, that's it. Put a beat on and you can probably outshine 90% of today's rappers. Putting a beat on and making a song is where you struggle. If we played a verse from 94 and played your most recent verse I'm almost sure nothing has changed. 20 years in the game and no progress, lets hope your next album "Top 5 Dead or Alive" proves me wrong.
