Today is Thursday which means cheap drinks, teenagers out buying Easter outfits, and a dope blog from @Rell_Mac. I hope yall enjoyed “Wave Pool Rules 101” yesterday and plan to live and die by those rules because relax is a must this summer, us niggas with full time jobs with benefits have no time!
Enough of all that tho back to Throwback Thursday, today will feature an artist who’s first album was a classic. To be honest if you’re over 23 and never owned this album your hip-hop/rap opinion means absolutely nothing to me and anyone a part of the First Class Blogs team. Yup I said it!! Anyway this song and album is dope and I don’t think no one has anything bad to say about neither. The album is Doggstyle and the song is “Gin and Jucie.”
When Snoop dropped his first solo album he had the rap game on smash, everyone loved it. The West Coast was running shit, Dre was doing his thing and he had his young boy on deck. Snoop showed his loyalty for Dre and the label on “Dre Day” when the two fired shots at Eazy-E and Ruthless Records. (Some of you new niggas are lost right now I understand but do your history and research and you’ll be aite). Moving. Right. Along! This album was released in November of 1993 and it still gets put in rotation, that’s a true classic.
Let’s talk about this video
This video starts off with three bad ass nigga kids jumping on the couch, typical Section 8 kid shit. One of the kids is Bow Wow for those of you that give a fuck, but once the kids and the adults left Snoop calls his niggas and threw a house party. If you never been to a house party in the projects as a kid I promised you your life will not be complete. I remember house party’s on Fern in Garfield when the trips damn near threw one every week, fun times!! But enough about me and my experiences back to the video.
Following that you see Snoop rocking the Pittsburgh Pens jersey and coming from PGH that’s dope! One of the scenes of the video is at a drive-in movie that’s how you know this is a true throwback. Weed, liquor, and 6 4’s three things that all niggas love!! I don’t want to go into great details about this video I rather you sit back and watch because some of you haven’t seen it in a while so enjoy your Throwback Thursday.
