Today's Throwback Thursday isn't going to be a song, I'm taking a different approach this week. After all the hype of Meek Mill and Cassidy wanting to come back to the battle world, I've figure I bless yall with a CLASSIC Smack DVD battle. I know some of yall weren't up on the battle world then and some still aren't on the battle world now. But battling face to face, no beat to see who has the better lines and who can make the other person look stupid in front of others has always been apart of the hip hop culture.
Smack DVD has changed the face of battle rap over the past 10 or so years. I remember literally damn near running to the store to grab the new fresh Smack DVD when it released. I watched them from beginning to end wanting to hear new music and watch fresh interviews from my favorite artist (Industry and Battle Rappers). And to now see Smack and the URL where they are now let's me know that hard work and caring about the quality of your product pays off. The URL (Ultimate Rap League) is now holding events in Webster Hall with 3000+ people with the likes of Diddy, Busta Rhymes, and Q-Tip in attendance. Shit ever Jay-Z said he watches their battles, he even tweeted a line from the Loaded Lux vs Calicoe battle. "He gon get this work"
Battle rap has climbed up and is now getting the respect it deserves so without holding you up let's get in to this classic battle between Jae Mills and Murda Mook.
