Mixtape Review

Though not spoken from his lips the first line heard on Mars Jackson's latest mixtape release Loft Music says it all. "This is the introduction to dope verses and ill percussion." Oh how that line rings true. With Loft Music Mars Jackson shows and proves that he's not your typical "Pittsburgh" rapper. It's easy for a listener to prejudge an artist based off of their environment and the listener is usually right. Mars Jackson is the reason we keep listening.
Armed with smooth production, dope lyrics and strong features "Loft Music" is like an unpolished gem. If I was asked to rate, I would have to give it 4/5 stars. Understand, Loft Music wasn't a "flawless" project by any means. It was merely a prime example of things to come.

If you take a few minutes out to skim through Jackson's last 2 mixtapes (Im sure many of you have), the lyrical and delivery growth is evident. If not, I'm sure you'll still feel me.
Something I feel compelled to point out when I speak about this tape is the production. The first time I tried to make a comparison to explain how it made me feel, I said Fabs Soul Tapes. That smooth and wavy music. In retrospect, I was wrong. After listening to B.A.M.D.I.C.T and The Coffee Break, it was that Mars Jackson sound that I've been feeling. That ill production coupled with soulful samples. Now who could be mad at that?

Then you've got the reason we're here. The artist. Mars Jackson. Young, enlightened and on a path to what looks like success. Armed with the need to perfect instead of compete. These are all obviously assumptions but I feel certain. We know growth is important in this game. Especially if you plan on maintain longevity. His is evident to the fans. Though his choice of music has pretty much remained the same, as I said before, lyrical growth and the strengthening of delivery is evident. These are the reasons we're compelled to listen.
I guess what Im pretty much saying is that Loft Music is definitely worth a listen and Mars Jackson is definitely an artist to look out for. So grab a J, a bottle of Tanqueray and cool out to that certified Loft Music
