#PGHSupportPGH

Today is my first edition of #PGHSupportPGH blogs. And I know you're probably wondering what this blog can be about, well calm the fuck down and give a nigga some time to explain. Well, with all the traffic I've been getting from these blogs I've decided to do something for my city and the people within it. The #PGHSupportPGH blogs are dedicated to highlighting, promoting, and shining light on local artist from my city, local business' from my city, and anything positive about my city that I can share with the world.

Since majority of my blogs are geared toward music I decided to make the first edition of #PGHSupportPGH about music as well. Over this past weekend I sat down Mars Jackson, one of my favorite unsigned artist from the city and asked him a few questions. The answers I got were real and if you know Mars personally you can tell by just reading.

How did you get the name Mars Jackson?
I got my name Mars Jackson simply by cutting my government name short. I wanted to keep it simple but also real because I embrace and carry on my family name, but also the name is me being me. If you really know a lot of people call me Quelz lol but only my real G'z call me that

What makes you different from any other artist?
I'm me Mars Jackson 24/7, there's no gimmicks. I will never give my audience the norm I'm always thinking outside the box. I give my listeners that new fresh sound. Man I'm just me....I don't do nothing extra, no frontin, and you know who I am because of my music!

I seen a few videos from your performance at the Shadow Lounge how was that?
The Show Lounge performance to me was the funniest one so far and my actual favorite. I say that because to me The Shadow lounge is like a Pittsburgh Apollo really. If you were able to get on that stage and rock the crowd then you know you got something. I also really like the atmosphere, the music had people just vibing which is my aim. Vibing good ass music, nothing you can put in a box or say he sound like or nothing just Mars dishing out good music to good people.

How long have you been rapping?
I've been rapping since middle school. I was always around music, my uncle was managing a group or two and my mom dukes used to be blasting WAMO "The Real WAMO" from back in the day. Yeah since then I've always been rapping, doing it for fun freestyling on my way to bball games. In college I was timid to let people know I rap until a drunk night I killed some shit but I love rapping, being a MC and making good music. GOD gave me a gift and a talent, why not share it with my city and the world.

You recently had a performance at Club Levelz how was that?

Yes, the club "Levelz" show was crazy! Shoutout to Common Wealth Family for letting me perform, they have the SouthSide on lock really. The performance was #FuckinSwag which had some dope artist such as myself, CommonWealth, Hubbs, MyKoolb, etc. It was nice seeing them rock out on stage plus networking, very dope!

Any new projects we should be looking for?
THE MOTHERFUGGIN COFFEE BREAK TAPE!!!! This is my second mixtape its one I put a lot of work and research in. My first tape B.A.M.D.I.C.T which is out now was cool to showcase my talent but I've grown so much as a person and artist that you will hear a big change in my music. Coffee Break is more lyrical, has more dope ass production, and it also has a few surprises. It's gonna be the tape of the spring... I promise that!! I haven't dropped the ball, so we bout raise the bar extra high! I'm too excited, other than that I'm focused on my brand, my name, and life itself. I'm living beyond my dreams now they will see! The Coffee Break Tape coming early, late March!
